Leopoldskron Palace, Salzburg

Built in the early 18th century, Schloss Leopoldskron was extensively renovated by Max Reinhardt and served as a theatrical centre.  Ownership was returned to Reinhardt’s estate after its wartime occupation as a Nazi pleasure palace. Scenes from the Sound of Music were shot nearby but none in the palace itself. (Salzburg, September 2013).
