Product Description
Windmill de Zwaan (the Swan Windmill) is located on the edge of the town of Ouderkerk on the Amstel, a stone’s throw from Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was built in 1638 and was operational until 1909. Windmills in the Netherlands were built to pump the water out to create arable farmland. Over half of the Netherlands is below sea level. Electric motors and pumps now do the job of the windmills.
